Deceived by Jollibee Advertisement

Last week, Nov.1, we ate lunch at Jollibee Greenbelt Mall. While I was trying to decide on what I was going to order, I saw a poster advertising one of their latest products called the “Yum! Burger with TLC“, endorsed by Sarah Geronimo. So I said ok, that looks yummy, I think I’ll try that one. Of course, like any other customer, I expected to receive a Yum! burger with TOMATOES, LETTUCE, and CHEESE, just like the one on the picture that Sarah Geronimo is holding. After all, that’s what the new product is about — TLC. That’s what differentiates it from their other Yum! burgers. But noooooo, look at what i got:

Now tell me, do you even see the lettuce??!!! And look at that cheese, it’s almost transparent! Good thing the tomatoe wasn’t as thin. So I complained. I asked them to replace it. But nooo, they did not replace it. All they did was add about 2 to 3 tiny strips of lettuce.

Tsk, talk about FALSE ADVERTISING for Jollibee, and BAD customer service…Well, at least for that particular branch. I was very disappointed. Minsan na nga lang akong mag Jollibee, ganun pa nakuha ko. Eh di sana nag order nalng ako ng ordinary nilang Yum! Burger..tsk! ![]()

i was having a bad day until i read this entry! i know you weren’t laughing when this was happening, but its very funny!
hrmm. laging ganyan ang Jollibee. even the sotanghon soup that they had… sa ads nila, may onion leaves and stuff like that. pero pag nag-order ka, wala! pfft.
This actually gives me more reason to never eat fastfood again! hehe Thanks.
hahaha welcome to the 3rd World!
Good for you. Bring your complaint to the nearest consumer body if you ahve one there. Let them write an official complaint to Jolibee.
tsk tsk tsk. this is bad. jollibee kid pa naman ako. dapat ayusin nila ito.
You actually went in there and expected to get a quality burger? What are you an idiot? You want good food, go make it yourself!
You eat lunch in a mall, and you wanted quality? Those two things will never go hand in hand, sistah!
Brittany & Michelle: It’s not about quality burger but deception of the ads…newayz, are you sisters? or clone? bcoz it’s an idiot thing to use two different names…considering that you are using the same IP address.
gn away pa ya bala aw. mayo pa sa wendy’s may lettuce gid ila na chiken breast fillet mski daw cabbage ang chura. hehe
hehe malas. nadaya ka.
Koolitz, You are the idiot for actually believing the ads! Or you need to live in the real world and not believe everything you see on posters, television and the newspapers. You got mad at the company because you bought into their ad campaign? What did you expect them so say? “Our burgers are really the exact opposite of what you see in the poster!! Do not buy our burgers!! They are crap!! We apologize ahead of time if we get numbnuts like you to fall for our marketing tricks!! Oh and yes, Michelle is my sister.
to the arrogant people here: it’s not about stupidity, it’s about consumer rights.
ederic: AMEN to that!
anu ba yan brittany and michelle!? are you both (or may be there’s only YOU) twisted or what? you’re seeing the whole scenario in a very arrogant way like what ederic said.. it’s true that you can’t expect quality food products from a fast food restaurant, but it’s all about the fact that they should live up to their credibility! deceiving the customers is almost like LYING to them! dishonesty!! better yet, FRAUD (it seems to be like it, don’t you think?)!!! it’s just right for customers to demand.. if they can’t provide what they’re advertising, why put up such an ad anyway? fallacy! if they can’t provide lettuce in their TLC burgers, then remove the frickin’ “T” .. it’s that easy! however, the T is their to stay or else it’s just LC (which isn’t a very catchy slogan), so they better put some lettuce on it!!!
It’s not about your rights! You walked in there voluntarily. No one forced you to consume their product. If you are so naive as to believe what they advertise, you are hopeless. Stay indoors and fasten a seatbelt around you. —-Carnivore, you said that companies should live up to their promises (you used the word credibility, but it doesn’t make sense when used in your statement). Companies don’t have to do anything the consumer wants. They make a product, deceive you with advertising, and if you’re foolish enough to fall for it, well, that’s money in thier pocket now isn’t it? All I am saying is, you HAVE A CHOICE. You made a decision based on your senses and (heaven help us) intellect. Don’t come crying back when you feel that you have been taken advantage of !!! Now, does that make sense to you, oh, bad hamburger victim ??
Brittany, taga Jollibee ka ba? hehehe…
Brittany, can we just forget the burger thingy muna for a sec?. U, me, n d rest of the ppl in this forsaken frigin planet are one way or the other considered as consumers. Question is, would it be ok for you that you bought a product (may it be vegies, burger, RTW, and etc.) with the good money you’ve hardly earned but what you’ve got is less than what you expect or your money’s worth? … if that’s ok with you…then good for you!!!…BUT I’m sorry coz to the rest (including me) that’s “panlilinlang”…and we’re definitely not ok with it.
very well said awshoo!
Amen!
Please type in English. My boyfriend (who is Filipino) isn’t always here with me to translate. Awshoo—I am not as ignorant a consumer as some people are. I would never buy anything thats cheap and expect to get more than what I paid for. That’s just total naivette (look it up). I also refuse to eat in fastfood restaurants (I’m in the US) as there can’t possibly be anything healthy in there. I just don’t understand why you folks can’t see my point of view. Maybe it’s culture?
I’m quite astonished simply bcoz U exactly got what “panlilinlang” means w/o ur boyfriend. Well a quick Fil language crash-course…”panlilinlang” simply means deceiving, defraud, or deprive somebody of something by deceit. Believe me, I know where you’re leading into and I know your point and neither I said anything about eating in cheap-resto/fastfood-chains nor having an exquisite dinner at Essex House in New York…AND lastly, I didn’t say anything about getting MORE than what you’ve paid for…Whatever you bought (food, RTW, gadgets, and etc.) and you simply didn’t get what’s your money’s worth (less not more), would it still be OK with you?…If it is, then good for you!!! got no further arguments. Oh and btw, the fastfood we’re talkin about is not just some tinny-winny outta here (ask ur boyfriend, he probably knows)
awshoo——Your reply was very poorly written. I can barely understand what you’re trying to say! If you knew the point I was trying to make, then your argument was moot. And what the hell is a “tinny-winny outta here”? I now know why you will never understand my point (this goes for the authors of the other responses as well). You can not comprehend it. You keep pushing your views but they do not make sense. I give up. You people are just stupid.
hi sarah bagay kayo ni mark
No one should be eating Jollibee to begin with. You’re basically eating “fake” food. The taste is artificial down to how it smells. Fastfood chains are now planning to chemicals to control how quickly the bread melts in your mouth. Gudluck with your health folks.
Dapat kase sa Burger Machine ka nalang kumain.

We got a couple of Jollibee franchises here in Los Angeles area, the burger, chicken, and fries are pretty bland. A nearby Albertsons grocery store had better chicken. Not to mention, Jollibee prices are quite expensive. Before the Eagle Rock mall franchise of Jollibee came to town, there was one, . . . wink, wink, . . . that sold a pretty nasty looking bunch of chicken that hadn’t been plucked properly. It had more flour on it than your regular KFC competitor. I tell you what, KFC looked and tasted ten time better that . . . wink, wink. I wish I had a digital camera back then, like I do know.
FRAUD! -the voluntary and delibarate act to evade the fulfillment of an obligation. It involves delibarate intent and dishonesty.
ang galing kasi ni sarah kaya nga idol ko sya kahit na sbi nla na d naman daw totoo na magaling siya. sana galingan nya pa lalo
sarah ang ganda m tlga u are the stbe
Heh. That’s really how things go around here. Naturally, the advertisements look rather appealing, don’t they? How else are they going to get consumers? It’s quite disappointing, sure. But that’s life. It’s not a question of stupidity, nor is it even a question of the consumers’ rights. This is all for the sake of profit. If you don’t like it, heck, just don’t buy the stuff anymore. (But I do think that proper complaints are in order.) This is the world of advertisement, baby. Get used to it. Oh, yeah. Before I forget, of course they wouldn’t change the burger. The employee would have to pay for that with their own money. And, really now, who’s selfless enough to pay for a stranger?
I do get (and quite agree with) Brittany’s point though I can’t see why she has to be so obnoxious. I mean advertising most of the time is just a lure. Even shampoo ads do that. We’re well aware that using their product won’t make our hair THAT shiny. But in this case wherein the burger does not contain any lettuce at all, the customer indeed has the right to complain. That’s clearly deceitful. The lettuce might be in the real sense, smaller than what was shown in the adverts but if it wasn’t there, that’s another thing.
not only the product but also the crew /cashier at their branch in south express way, he’s not accomodating. Bading kasi

ads are really towards deception.. tamang tama, we are currently elrolled in our advertising class and i use jollibee as my example.. really, they made it big using ads but the qualtiy and substance are really questionable.. i prefer japanese/korean restos talaga.. hehehe

[…] was November of last year that I posted an entry ranting about receiving poor food quality from Jollibee, Greenbelt. Now, I need to rant again and there’s no better place to do it but here. No, this time […]
another stupid argument over a burger … greeeaat..well one thing ’s for sure ..you don’t get what you see .. in jollibee that is >
.
at least may kamatis. hehe
uii don’t those two pictures look exactly the same? except for the lettuce leaves and the position of the camera when those pictures were shot? The wrapper in relation to the receipt and the burger is exactly in the same place as well as everything else. it looks like the lettuce was just put there and the burger never left the spot. Just saying, but I understand. You can’t expect the quality of fast food here in the Philippines to rock.
yeh bob your right, the burger is in the same place
I’ve noticed that too…just thinking what you’re thinking guys.
That was a cheese? I thought that’s an egg. LOL Good work men
