Disposable DVDs - a Cure for Piracy?

Despite all the raids, promotions against piracy, and everything that the government is trying to do to eliminate piracy, well, PIRACY is still rampant everywhere, most especially here in the Philippines. Microsoft faces this challenge and creates a solution — ‘One-play-only’ DVDs.
Microsoft has developed a cheap, disposable pre-recorded DVD disc that consumers can play only once. The discs would give Hollywood increased control over the release of new films and allow consumers the chance to watch a film at the fraction of the price of an ordinary pre-recorded DVD.
Microsoft hopes that this will help fight piracy. Personally, I’m not too sure about this though. Would it really be effective? I know that a lot of people buy cds/dvds (whether they are pirated or not) not only for the purpose of watching the movie but also to add it to their library or personal movie collection. Therefore, why would people buy dvds if they can only watch it once? If that’s the case, eh di sa moviehouse nalang ako manonood. Besides these disposable dvds need special dvd players to view them. They cannot be viewed on the dvd players that we have in the market right now.

What you said is right. I would rather watch in the moviehouse. The only solution to lessen, if not get rid, of piracy, is for these capitalist to stop selling at an overpriced rate, especially in a third world country like the Philippines. And besides, it won’t be effective as the “region exclusive” DVDs don’t work anymore (there are tools that allows you to view DVD from any region wihtout requiring any special hardware). At first they thought that creating region exclusive problems would help lessen piracy but as you see, they were wrong.
This would be useless IMO. I buy tons of DVD’s for my library. If you could only watch the DVD once, why buy the damn thing?
it’s a hoax

@topic starter, why be negative with an idea? how would you feel if it was yours?
Try to be open, I would buy a 30 peso 1 time play dvd.
The quality is at it’s best and I dont have to keep the damn disk.
Who said it would only cost P30?
Besides, read jepoy’s comment. The article was a hoax. Thanx jepoy for the info.
