Last Friday, Koolitz and I, along with his mom, sister, and nieces went to visit the MV Doulos, a floating book fair. (I went back the next day with my family. Hehe.) They sell lots of books with subjects ranging from Arts, Science, Sports, Pets, Christianity, Cooking, Dictionaries and other references, Children’s storybooks, activity books, and more. These books are for sale on board the ship for very low prices. I bought one book on Dog Care, 1 wall calendar, 1 desk calendar and 5 pencils which I’m going to add to my pencil collection.
The Doulos docked the port of Bacolod (Bredco port) last December 19, 2006. The ship will be open to the public until the 31st of December after which they will sail for Manila. According to their website, over the past 29 years, the ship has visited more than 100 countries in Latin America, Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific and over 18 million people have climbed the ship’s gangways. There are about 350 volunteers from over 50 different countries, including one family and 3 singles from the Philippines who work on the ship with no pay. They are all volunteers who live and work on board, undergoing a unique 2-year cross cultural training programme. Sounds interesting noh? You get to travel across the globe and meet people from around the world and learn about their culture.
Of course, we can’t go home without taking pictures: ![]()
