Pasalamat Festival - La Carlota City

Pasalamat Festival Queen
Pasalamat Festival Queen

We went to La Carlota City last April 29, 2007 for the Pasalamat Festival - based on the tradition of giving thanks to the Gods of the elements after a bountiful harvest by the ancients in “Buglas”. Our host is also our officemate - Fritz. La Carlota is more or less than 50km away from Bacolod City. As expected, there were so many food! I was not there for the food but for the street dance and also for the Pasalamat drumbeaters - which is, according to the locals, the highlight of the festival. I actually love the beat! The streetdance was expected to start around 2pm but it started around 3:45pm! Why? Because they waited for Loren Legarda!X-( I’m glad it didnt turn out like what happened to Panagbenga Festival.

Anyway, here’s some more photos that I took that day.

Everything Nice Cake Shop and Cafe - Camp John Hay, Baguio City

by Birks on March 09, 2007 in Travel, Food Trip, Photoblog

Everything Nice. Yes, that is the name of a quaint little Cake Shop and Cafe located at the Mile Hi Center inside Camp John Hay, Baguio City. Their specialty includes desserts and pastries but we were there for lunch so we ordered more than just dessert. :)

The waitress said many people usually order their Chicken Cordon Bleu. So I ordered that along with a plate of yummy Potato Wedges.

Butterfly Sanctuary - Camp John Hay, Baguio City

by Birks on March 08, 2007 in Travel, Photoblog

We went to Camp John Hay after watching the Panagbenga dance parade last February 24, 2007. The place was clean and green and I liked it very much. They have picnic grounds and it’s a great place to hang out especially because of the cool breeze. Theres also a garden with lots and lots of colorful flowers. That sure was a pretty sight.

Baguio Panagbenga Festival 2007 - Pictures

Where can you find fairies, princesses, ballerinas, and even the controversial couple Jollibee and Hetty in just one parade? (Oh, I forgot to mention — a whole bunch of politicians, too!) They were all present at the colorful float parade of the Baguio Panagbenga Festival last February 25, 2007.

Baguio Panagbenga Festival 2007

February 24-25 was a weekend of flowers, colors, butterflies, jump shots, and nice cool weather! Koolitz and I, along with some friends went to Baguio to experience the Panagbenga Festival also known as the Flower Festival of Baguio. We watched the dance parade on Saturday and the float parade on Sunday. We didn’t really get to watch the whole dance parade though because there were soooo many people! That’s why on Sunday we were already on Session Road as early as 6:30am so we could find a good spot where we can take good pictures of the parade. I particularly loved the floats. I was awed as I watched so many colorful and pretty flowers pass by me. Ack, politicians were everywhere though, taking advantage of the festival to make their campaigns.

Zoobic Safari in Subic

After witnessing the colorful hot air balloons at Clark, Pampanga, we headed for Subic to visit the Zoobic Safari. I was so excited to see tigers up-close. I hate cats but I don’t know why I like tigers. I just think they’re adorable. :D It was a looong trip going there, most especially that none of us really knew the way going to Zoobic so we kinda got lost a few times.

Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

On Feb. 10, 2007 (Saturday), Koolitz and I will be travelling to Clark, Pampanga with some friends from Flickr to witness the Annual Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta!
