Heroes: Kensei is NOT Japanese

by Birks on July 18, 2007 in Heroes, TV Series

David Anders on Heroes as Kensei Well that explains why David Anders landed the role of Kensei. Many people/fans reacted when the news got out that David Anders (from Alias) is going to play the part of the legendary warrior Kensei, Hiro’s hero from childhood. They questioned how this is possible as he is not Japanese and Kensei is supposed to be Japanese. Well, let us be reminded that we only assumed Kensei is Japanese but it wasn’t really mentioned that he is. Masi Oka quotes “If you remember, Kensei didn’t look Japanese in the ancient tapestry [seen in Season 1].;)

Let’s not forget that this is Heroes — the show that’s always full of mysteries/surprises and the show where the impossible is not always necessarily impossible. :)

Masi Oka was interviewed by TV Guide and shares a bit of scoop on the 2nd season of Heroes. Read about it here.

Heroes will have six new characters next season!

by koolitz on June 20, 2007 in Heroes, TV Series

Heroes

NBC’s sci-fi drama “Heroes” is casting a wide net for next season, tapping Barry Shabaka Henley, Holt McCallany, “Alias” alum David Anders, Japanese pop star and actress Eriko Tamura, Lyndsy Fonseca and Dianna Agron for recurring roles.

Anders will play the most intriguing part, that of the ancient samurai warrior Takezo Kensei, Hiro Nakamura’s (Masi Oka) childhood hero. While never seen during “Heroes’ ” first season, Kensei played a key part in the show’s plot. Hiro spent most of the season trying to get ahold of Kensei’s sword, which he hoped would help him in his quest to save the world.

In another Japanese connection, Tamura will play a Japanese princess.

Henley will play Detective Fuller, a New York police officer. McCallany will play Ricky, the ringleader of a group of Irish thugs.

Fonseca and Agron will play beautiful cheerleaders in Southern California, where Claire (Hayden Panettiere) is expected to move. Fonseca’s character April is sweet, while Agron’s Debbie is a mean girl. Read more about it here

Sylar is Alive!

by koolitz on June 17, 2007 in Heroes, TV Series

Sylar

Yes Zachary Quinto fans, Sylar will be returning to Heroes in season two. We still don’t know why there is a little cockroach crawling around when ever Sylar is at his low points though, or do we? Rumors persist that Sylar’s return will include a mentor with a few things in common with Heroes’ brain gobbling baddie.

Access Hollywood confirmed with a rep for Zach Quinto that the actor would be returning next season to reprise his role as bad guy “Sylar.” This shouldn’t come as twoo much of a surprise, however; while Sylar’s hope for becoming the leader of a post-apocalyptic world may have been run through with Hiro’s katana, the ominous villain no doubt has not lost his lust for power.

On the rumor side of things, David Anders of Alias fame is all but confirmed to play the part of next season’s central villain Kane. Kane is apparently over a thousand years old and has a lust for power that is a little more elegant than Sylar. If you believe the word on the streets, the little cockroaches that we see whenever Sylar is in trouble, well they’ve been a little more helpful than we would have ever imagines.

An anonymous source is telling BuddyTV to pay careful attention to the bugs first appearance. Sylar was successfully subdued at the Primatech facility when we first saw a cockroach scamper by, then he wasn’t. In the finale, he was run through and bleeding out and what did we see crawling near the man hold cover where he apparently made his escape? A cockroach. Hmmm. Cause for the suspicion of course.

Aside from the alleged ability to control hordes of insects, a suitably biblical power for a villain named Kane, not much is known about the new character. The good thing is, unlike LOST fans, we’ll only have to wait a few more months to find out.
